    Dear Parents,

We are experiencing a fault with our phone line. We have been in contact with engineers who are investigating the problem. Calls have been diverted to a secondary line, which means that you should be able to get through if you need to. If your query can be dealt with by email, please contact the school office on: admin@nascotwoodjm.herts.sch.uk

With thanks for your understanding, Nascot Wood Junior School

  • Roblox

    Published 09/03/18

    Dear Parents,

Two or three parents have asked me about a game that some of our children are playing on the internet; Roblox.

Please see below for some information from Herts for Learning’s autumn term esafety newsletter for parents.

Roblox – keeping children safe whilst gaming

    What is Roblox?

Childnet describes it as: “a gaming website where multiple players interact and play together in online games. The site has a collection of games aimed at 8-18 year olds; however, players of all ages can use the site and play games together. Roblox can currently be played on the PC, phone, tablet and Xbox One.

There are a wide variety of games to choose from; from delivering pizzas, to roaming a kingdom as a medieval knight, to even starring in a fashion show, the variety of games is one of the reasons that Roblox is so popular with many young people.”

Childnet goes on to highlight the three key things for parents to be aware of:

    • the chat communication feature of the game

    • the content of the game could be inappropriate for young children

    • the risk children could accidentally run up costs whilst playing the game

  • Thank you!

    Published 05/03/18

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the Class Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Office staff and Midday Supervisors who made a huge effort to ensure that we were fully staffed and therefore able to open the school during the recent snow. We were one of the only schools in Hertfordshire to remain open, and this enabled your children to have uninterrupted education.

A particular thank you to Sarah Wood, our site manager, who cleared the site several times a day, with the help of Sheena Fitzpatrick, site manager in the Infant School.

Sandra Bevis, our school cook, did a wonderful job to ensure that all our children received a cooked meal on Thursday and Friday.

Finally, thank you to all parents who battled with the weather to bring their children to school, some of which had a long way to travel; we had 250 children in school on Thursday and 235 on Friday.

Let’s hope that we have milder weather from now on!

    With best wishes,

    Christina Singh
